Parent Workshop: Tantrums, Big Emotions, and What’s Beneath the Behavior

Tantrums are not just for toddlers. Big emotional reactions can show up at every age, from young children collapsing into tears to teens slamming doors or shutting down completely. While the behaviors may look different, the nervous system underneath is often communicating the same thing: “I’m overwhelmed.”

In this workshop, we’ll explore what is actually happening in the brain and body during tantrums and emotional outbursts, and why traditional responses often escalate rather than calm the moment. Parents will learn how to respond in ways that support regulation, connection, and emotional resilience while still holding healthy boundaries.

Together, we’ll discuss how to stay grounded during emotionally charged moments, how to separate behavior from identity, and how to help children move through big feelings without shame. This workshop will include neuroscience, practical tools, real life examples, and language parents can begin using immediately with children of all ages, including teens.
